Within its ProMare collection, Mühle-Glashütte has released a limited edition Bronze model. The ProMare Go Bronze has the collection’s distinctive case and sports watch aesthetic and brings a bit of warmth to the line.

The Release

Offering dimensions at 42mm diameter and 12.2mm thickness, the Mühle-Glashütte ProMare Go Bronze really only brings a new case material. It features date indicator color-matched to the dial at the 3 o’clock position, sapphire crystal and your choice of a hybrid or leather 22mm strap. A rich, deep blue dial with applied indices and Super-LumiNova pairs with a distinct blue rehaute, linking this version to the other ProMare offerings. A two-tone bezel in bronze and aluminum features hashes at every minute, while the steel crown gives 300 meters of water resistance. Behind the display caseback is the stock Sellita SW 200-1 movement but with Mühle’s own adjustments and additional woodpecker regulator.

The Context

Nobody is surprised by another bronze diver. However, few and far between are the bronze watches with dramatic polishing, making this watch more unique in the patinating sea. While not as well-known or distinctive as its S.A.R Rescue Timer collection, the ProMare range and this expansion thereof demonstrate Mühle-Glashütte’s strong core and depth of provenance within. Given the materials and modifications to the movement, the price also gives it a leg up today’s crowded sports watch market.

Our Thoughts

There’s no question that this watch looks great and can get the job done, but in this cut-throat sports watch market, will the Mühle-Glashütte ProMare Go Bronze be seen? Yes, it has that rich-colored dial with handsome indices, but so do a lot of other watches. And here’s a broader question as we push through the tangle of bronze divers: is bronze the best choice for this or any seafaring watch? There seems to be no end to this trend, though we can’t help but wonder how many owners of bronze watches really enjoy the patination at the end of the day.

Availability

The Mühle-Glashütte ProMare Go Bronze is priced at €2700 and is limited to 300 pieces. It’s available now from the Muhle Glashutte website here.
